    The Indian Environmental Society (IES) publishes various books related to Environment. A brief summary of each of our publications is given below:

    1. “ECO- TOURISM”- For Sustainable Development

    This publication clearly elaborate about the definition of Eco-Tourism, its principle, objectives, impacts and role in environmental management, strategies for the future along with some other information regarding Eco-Tourism. A clear-cut idea describing the Eco-Tourism goal as the generation of economic benefits where they are profits for companies, jobs for communities or revenues for parks is also available in this publication.     ECO CLUB - A Step Towards Environment Awareness This publication include information about the formation of Eco-Club, Important areas under concern of Eco-Clubs, activities that could be undertaken by students to understand their role to improve the environmental conditions and measures to protect the environment. This publication is the revolutionary step taken by the IES to generate the awareness among the students. At the same time this will provide beneficial information to the teachers and students to generate awareness about the Environmental issues. It has some discussion about the causes and impact of climatic change.

    3. “LEARN WITH COLOUR”

    LEARN WITH COLOURThis is an interesting colour book for kids containing some beautiful pictures with very little but valuable general knowledge, some advices and also some jokes. This book definitely provides lot of benefits for children as well as illiterates. As children are the future of a country, this book in some way playing an important role to produce responsible citizens. On the other hand, the pictures related to environment and attractive animals like camel, elephant etc aware children and illiterates about the protection of these valuable things.

    4. “ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVITY MANUAL”- A Hand Book On Environmental Education

    This publication of IES provides a beautiful description made on basic components of environment such as water, air and soil. It also teaches some simple techniques for the measurement of water transparency, water pH, rainfall, humidity along with some other interesting things such as wind direction, acid rain. Similarly the valuable information like soil fertility is also given in this publication. By going through this book any one can get the knowledge about the sample testing techniques that are used to monitor air, water and soil.

    5. “ENVIRONMENTAL ORIENTATION TO SCHOOL EDUCATION”

    Is another valuable publication of IES, which brings uncountable benefits for the people of all level. It deals with some important environmental problems like resource deterioration, Environmental pollution, human health, quality of life, radioactivity from nuclear weapons and nuclear energy production etc along with solutions for these major problems. It also provides brief description about the components of biosphere, the process of bio-geo chemical cycle and various impacts of man on the biosphere. Towards the end of this book the IES put an argument about why each and every member of a country should have a thorough knowledge about the Environment? And finally it appeals to our society as well as to Govt. to include the Environmental Education in all the subjects of each classes starting from standard I to XII and to arrange awareness programme for all.

    6. “PANCHAYATI RAJ AND WOMEN”

    It is an interesting publication of IES, published in bilingual i.e. containing articles both in Hindi and English language. It concentrates on the relation of women with panchayat. In this publication, lots of case studies are given from different states (such as U.P, Karla, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Uttaranchal, Assam, and Rajastan) regarding the role of women in Panchayati Raj.

    7. “PANCHAYATI RAJ AND PRASHNOTTARI”

    This is the complete Hindi publication of IES, which contains numbers of questions and answers regarding different need in panchayat. It also provides answers to some questions that point towards the role of panchayat in different works in villages.

    8. “WATER”

    The publication “Water” is an extra ordinary presentation of IES for society. It is divided into 7 different parts that contains different topics like definition, type and form of water, water cycle, properties and use of water, common water measurements, and about one of the major problems i.e. water pollution along with some innovative and simple points regarding conservation of water. Finally it explains answers for some questions related to water.

    9. “AIR”

    The Publication “AIR” gives idea regarding the layers of atmosphere, air and its compositions. It also deals about the topics related to air pollution, types of air pollutant, impacts of air pollution on plants and animals and some controlling methods of air pollution and finally, few question answer pages are also there.

    10. “SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT”- An Introduction

    The Solid Waste Management (SWM) is the major problem now a day. This publication on solid waste management is an effort by IES in providing a deep insight on the issue of Solid Waste Management. Dr. Desh Bandhu, the president of IES shows strong belief that, this publication will be able to speed knowledge and awareness on the issue among masses.

    11. Panchayat and Media

    Panchayat and MediaPanchayat bodies are backbone of rural India. It is an administrative body at village level and it is our primary duty to make it sustainable. The media highlights and bring the problems of rural India to us but we usually forget these news quickly after reading them. In order to highlight the different issues related to panchayat, Indian Environmental Society (IES) has made an attempt to bring together all the news of Panchayat and Rural India in a special book “Panchayat and Media” which covers General News, Development, Future Plans, Laws and Policies, Health etc.

    12. Biodiversity and Conservation of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants

    Biodiversity and Conservation of Medicinal and Aromatic PlantsIndia is one of the mega biodiversity regions in the world. This country offers a great potential in herbal medicines with traditional market turnover more than 4000 crores but over exploitation of natural resources along with loss of traditional knowledge are causing big threat to biodiversity. “Phulwari ki Nal”, a sanctuary in south of Rajasthan is rich in floral diversity. This book contains the identification, characteristics and medicinal uses of plants growing in the sanctuary. It also contains the conservation strategies adopted by the local people and papers presented during National Seminar organised by Indian Environmental Society (IES) at Udaipur on 4th and 5th Feb 2006.

    13. Conservation and Sustainable Use of Water Resources

    Conservation and Sustainable Use of Water ResourcesWater is the most important component of environment next to Air, covering around 3/4th of the earth surface. Inspite of its abundance several factors have made its availability limited. Yamuna River is one of the most important rivers of India and considered as the lifeline of North-India. But now it is the river of unfulfilled hope as rapid industrialization, deforestation and urbanization have made its water unfit for drinking and unsafe for living beings to live in. The Indian Environmental Society (IES) has taken an initiative to create mass awareness on the water pollution of River Yamuna. This publication carries many papers presented during the workshops organised by IES to protect water bodies and make them sustainable.

    14. Information Pack on Environment

    Information Pack on EnvironmentEvery year World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5th. On this day, Indian Environmental Society (IES) with the support of Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF) has made an initiative to make people and children aware of basic issues of environment. For this IES has released an Information Pack on Environment containing issues of environment like Biodiversity and its Conservation, Solid Waste Management, Air and Water Pollution and Importance of Water.

    15. "Success stories of Panchayat Raj"

    It is an interesting publication of IES, published in bilingual i.e. containing articles both in Hindi and English language. It concentrates on the success stories from different hindi & English newspaper. In this publication, lots of case studies are given from different states (such as U.P, Kerla, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Uttaranchal, Assam, and Rajasthan) regarding the role of Panchayati Raj & environment management.

    16. Recycling of marble slurry waste for Environmental Improvement

    Indian environmental Society has implemented a pilot project on recycling of marble slurry by setting-up a small scale project on recycling of marble slurry. The durability study shows that even after 25 cycles of test the strength of the brick are in general more than control strength. After 50 cycles. The strength values are even then within the range of control strength. In this publication there is a detail case study about marble slurry industries & its environmental effects.

    17. Panchayti Raj And Self Help Group

    Panchayti Raj and Self Help Group is an important asset for avoiding the poverty and developing our rural areas. Science a long time efforts have been made by the government and various volunteer origination to form SHGs in different part of the country. This book covers several existing environmental issues such as solid waste management, natural resources management including wetland management.

    18. Cultural Heritage of Himachal

    The study ‘Cultural Heritage of Himachal’ is an attempt to provide an insight into the myriad cultural patterns which exists within the state and which vary accordingly to the physical constrain. This study has analyzed various traditional aspects of himachal pardesh such as its history, its lifestyles its customs, heritage, festivals and fair and mannerisms.
